July Winds Down

JULY  WINDS DOWN 2008

USASA HALL OF FAME KENNEL #10

GOOD NEWS FROM INDIANA!
What a busy week!  What a LONG DOG SHOW this year at the fair!  We didn't get home until 1:00 in the morning the night of dog show.
Taylor and Delilah did AWESOME!!! Taylor scored a perfect 200 winning Champion in Intermediate Showmanship Division and went on to
show in the Senior class, where they scored a 196 out of 200!  (Delilah was pretty tired by this time (11:00 pm & got marked off for lagging.
Taylor and Delilah scored 170 out of 200 in Obedience!  (All the dogs were having a tough time due to the heat and the overly long day.)
Delilah ROCKED on her sit stays and downs stays and her stand for exams from the judge!  Taylor scored a 98% on her written test!  She
only missed 1 question! Taylor and Delilah also performed on the Dog Drill Team this year!  They did Awesome in that and were already
asked to perform again with next years drill team!!!  Everyone LOVES Delilah and can't believe she is doing so well for 15 months old!
It took Taylor three years to get this far with Annabelle (chow mix)!
Taylor and Delilah won Reserve Grand Champion over all...out of about 200 dogs shown this year!!!!
We did not expect such great things out of Delilah so soon!!!  We were all so excited!  Taylor came home with two trophies and lots of ribbons!
Notice Delilah's lack of coat!  Thank goodness the judging is on the handler in 4-H and not the dog.  Delilah still got A LOT of compliments
all during the fair. Looking forward to showing in Marshall!  Hope the weather will cooperate with us!  I didn't get to cancel Delilah out of her
classes before the closing dates...Taylor said she wants to show her anyway.  She does love that dog.  She has been working with Player
and biking him too...we'll see how they do! Best Wishes!! Sue, Taylor, Delilah and Player
CONGRATULATIONS Taylor & Delilah!

NEWS FROM BETSY AND RAIN IN NORTH DAKOTA!!!!  July 21
CH THORNAPPLE END OF THE RAINBOW

Greetings Ladies, Just a  note to say Hi and the show news from this weekend.
Had Rain entered in Rally Advanced B.  Off Leash Course with jump included.  Lots of very seasoned dogs in the B classes always.
Rain held his own though:) He was FANTASTIC on the first day.  96 out of 100 and placed 3rd out of 13.  He was SLAMMIN:))))!!!!!!
That evening I went to the Canine Academy and trained UKC agility and obedience to prepare and polish for our Iowa trip on August.
We have 4 obedience trials and 4 agility trials in 2 days.  WHEW!! Quite a feat for this old gal:))))  LOL
Rain was so side tracked with the previous evenings training that today we had a qualifier but not as flashy as Saturday.
The boy had AGILITY on his mind and he caught sight of a CUTE little black female aussie and well you know the rest of the story.
SNIFF SNIFF and CHATTER CHATTER. BTW this lady is so taken with Thornapple dogs that she is considering seriously about one.
She saw Bitta and Diablo at the airing of Cruft's and was blown away with both Bitta and Diablo.  You must let Bitta know that she & Diablo are
stars even in ND. So to sum it up we had a good weekend.  2 qualifiers at this 2 day trial and Rain trained well for our upcoming Iowa trek. Betsy
 CONGRATULATIONS BETSY & RAIN!

GOOD NEWS FROM Japan!  YOSHI reports Ruby is in a family way!
Yoshihiro Yarmaji - Wild Levin Aussies - & Ruby visited the Thornapples in June.
Ruby was bred to Thornapple Bold Moves. Yoshi called July 17th to give us the good
news! Ruby is pregnant with at least 2 puppies! We are thrilled with Yoshi's good news
as Ruby is 8 years old and arrived here in the States very late in her heat cycle. We
wish Ruby a safe delivery and can't wait to hear the details!

Ruby loves visiting Camp Thornapple!

Everyone gathered at Amy's house for a Father's Day Gathering.
Yoshi rode a pony for his first time ever!
Thank you Erica for leading Yoshi & Darling a safe ride!

Well, we've had Jasmine for a week now and we aren't planning on sending her back yet... Ha,
Actually we are all in love with her and can't thank you enough!! She is so sweet and very smart!
She is settled into her routine here and already understands a handful of commands. The way she
jumps and flips around, I'm pretty sure she's telling me that she'd love to be an agility dog when
she gets bigger. My goodness, she's a little fireball! Her favorite game is stalking through the flower
garden like it's a jungle, rolling around and snapping at all the flower heads. She has killed many a
flower, but we don't mind because they grow back. The picture here is of her preparing to jump at
that tall yellow flower. After I took it, she succeeded, and that poor flower is no more. She also has
a little pool that she loves to splash around in and dive after her tennis ball (that at this point barely
fits in her mouth), and when we walk her through the woods she stays right on our heels the whole time.
She definitely knows we are her family now. She even went and cheered on Sam at his baseball game this
week, until she fell sound asleep on my lap- baseball can be a little slow sometimes. Everyone who sees
her thinks she's the most beautiful puppy they've ever seen. Tell all her friends that she says hi and
misses playing with them. She tries to play with our cats, but they are a little less than enthused. Again,
thank you so much, we love Jasmine and will keep you posted on her progress. -Emily
Thank you for the wonderful update Emily!!!
